What Can Be Said About Production of Titanium Sheet

When talking about Titanium sheet or bar, we are referring to that metallic alternative to adamantine sheet that is made from titanium. Metallic titanium or simply Ti is generally not heavy in weight but is a very durable metal that can be used for so many things in production and manufacturing industries. The metal can be a source of materials used to make so many products that are strong and can last long even with their sleek appearances.
Ti bars or sheets are made from the chlorination of titanium dioxide or rutile ore of titanium. This process results into what looks like sponges or granules, which have to be produced in a container that has some beach sands as beddings. The chlorine in use in this process has been mixed with coke or carbon, which make the output granules to be pure titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4). This new product is now mixed with magnesium in a specialized close system where it is possible to do vacuum distillation. The essence of vacuum distillation is to remove all mag or impurities of chlorine in the sponge that will eventually become titanium bar.
The reason for the addition of magnesium or sodium in sometimes is to aid in the separation of titanium from chlorine. The chlorine is recycled back into the system for next chlorination while Ti, which is still in a state of impurity, is placed in a Vacuum Arc Reduction (VAR) or an Electron Beam furnace. This is where the sponge of titanium will be melted and also alloyed with other elements such as vanadium, aluminum, zirconium, tin and also molybdenum.
The resulting granules from the VAR above can then be re-melted again to produce some slabs of Ti. By further forging the slabs and also subjecting the Titanium slabs to more casting processes, we will have the Ti bars that can be used to make many durable things such as the titanium tube and sheet.
