Want to get rid of
wrinkles and other facial creases? Try botox. It is an injectable drug made from the toxin of the
‘Clostridium botulinum’ bacterium. This drug is injected in the affected region
of the skin, they then block the signals sent to nerves which further contracts
the muscles. Once injected, those muscles do not contract and the wrinkles
present there to soften and relax, giving a young look.
The whole botox process takes about 3-5
minutes only, no anesthesia is needed for the procedure. The results can be
seen within 10-14 days after the administration of the injection. There are
some things to take care of before and after this procedure:
- Avoid the consumption of alcohol 1 week prior to the
procedure.
- Stop taking any kind of pain reliever,
anti-inflammatory, etc. medication about 2 weeks prior to the treatment.
- Do not rub the injected area for about 24-48 hours
after the procedure, or else the drug might travel to other areas of the
face.
- Try to stay in a sitting position for 4-5 hours after
the treatment.
- Also, do not exercise on the treatment day and a day
after it just a precaution.
The following are the
most common areas where botox injection
is applied:
- Crow’s feet- Also known as periorbital wrinkles that
are present around the eyes.
- Drooping brows- The tail of each eyebrow can be lifted
to give an arch. This is usually used by people with heavy brows.
- Nasal lines- The wrinkles across the bridge of the
nose.
- Other sites include; laugh lines, upper lip, laugh
lines, chin dimple, forehead creases, etc.
Make sure to consult with
a specialist before going for botox treatment.
Though, people who are pregnant, lactating, or have any type of neurological
disease should not get this treatment done. Also, people who are allergic to
milk protein should not get this procedure done.
