First aid kits are an essential part
of every place, to ensure safety. It is necessary to have a kit stocked with
all the basic First Aid Supply and
other related items at your home, car, workplace, and other places you
frequent. Accidents are not planned; nobody willingly harms themselves or get
in the way of accidents. True to their name, accidents can happen anywhere be
it in the house or outside. That is why one must always be prepared and keep a
first aid kit stocked with at least the basic contents.
It is not always necessary to buy a
first aid kit, you can always make one at home and fill it up with the basic First Aid Supply and other
essentials all by yourself. This way you will be aware of everything inside of
it and know each content. Making it easier for you to use it in times of need.
You can also make a first aid kit according to your need, for example, if you
want to make one for your car, it must be small and must have a bag that keeps
everything at a normal temperature. Similarly, if you are planning to go on a
hike and cannot carry many items then you can make a first aid with only the
essentials and make the packaging small so it is easier to carry.
Nonetheless, when assembling a
homemade emergency first aid kit make sure to add the following basic (and very
essential) First Aid Supply items:
- Antiseptic wipes or pads
- Band aids (small and big both)
- Cotton ball or Q-tips (whatever is easily
available)
- Elastic bandages
- Cold icepacks
- Tape (preferably medical grade one)
- Saline (or sterile) spray to clean the wound
thoroughly
- Soap (or sanitizer)
- Gloves
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Safety pins
- Thermometer
- Gauze
- A manual on how to use each item
- Emergency contact information. It is very
useful in case you are alone and gets into an accident.
- Medical information of family member (in case
they have a chronic disease or any NCD)
- Some over-the-counter medication, mostly consisting
of pain killer or fever medicine, some anti-allergens, antibiotic creams,
etc. Also, add any medication related to any disease that your family
member may have.
The above-mentioned First Aid Supply items are some
necessary items that a first aid kit must-have if you are assembling it at
home. Some other supplies include an emergency blanket, flashlight, extra
batteries, match sticks, candles, sunscreen, some paper, and a pencil. Other
supplies may vary depending on where you are going and what risks you may face
on your way. Then you can make additions accordingly. Just make sure to keep
all the supplies in a bag suitable for all temperatures.
